Som en del af hjælpepakkerne til erhvervslivet stiller staten kaution for lån til eksportvirksomheder, der lider omsætningstab på grund af Covid-19.
Garantien fungerer således at Danmarks Eksportkredit (EKF) stiller kaution for op til 80 procent af de nye kreditter, som pengeinstitutter giver til eksportvirksomheder pga. Covid-19-krisen. Dermed får pengeinstitutter en væsentlig mindre risiko ved at låne penge ud til eksportvirksomheder, så længe virksomheden kan dokumentere at leve op til nedenstående krav.
Omkostningerne forbundet med at opnå kaution fra EKF er de normale låne omkostninger til pengeinstituttet samt en procent af kautionsbeløbet.
Det er eksportvirksomhedens pengeinstitut, der skal ansøge om kaution fra EKF, dermed skal virksomheden som udgangspunkt ikke kontakte EKF. Det er dog muligt at kontakte EKF med henblik på afklaring af nedenstående krav. Det kan fx være brugbart i dialogen med pengeinstituttet.

- Mindst 10 procent af seneste års omsætning skal relatere sig til eksport.
- Virksomheden skal have opnået et omsætningstab på mindst 30 procent under Covid-19-krisen sammenlignet med samme periode sidste år.
- Der skal generelt være tale om en sund virksomhed.
