Forbrugerne lytter hellere til internetradio end DAB. Af samme grund ligger producenternes fokus i høj grad også på internetradio. Alligevel har EU valgt, at alle nye biler, såfremt de er udstyret med en indbygget radiomodtager, skal kunne modtage DAB+ fra 21. december 2020.

I Danmark skal implementeringen ske i dansk lovgivning i et samarbejde mellem Kulturministeriet og Klima, Energi- og Forsyningsministeriet/Energistyrelsen.

Lovforslaget sendes i offentlig høring i slutningen af denne måned. Det forventes derefter fremsat i Folketinget til vedtagelse i oktober/november med ikrafttræden fra 21. december 2020.

”Selv om langt fra alle mærker sætter DAB+ modtagere i deres nye biler nu, så forlyder det, at der er styr på det. Vi anbefaler dog alle nyvognsforhandlere at forhøre sig hos importøren. Der kan opstå en situation, hvor en kunde bestiller en ”customized” bil i november, og bilen først leveres i januar. Så skal forhandleren huske at informere kunden om, at bilen vil komme med DAB+,” siger Gitte Seeberg, adm. direktør i AutoBranchen Danmark.

I Danmark er der endnu ikke taget stilling til at lukke FM-signalet, som er det, der primært giver bilisterne radio i dag.
