Den 1. maj 2020 kom der nye regler for placering af nummerplader på motorcykler. Det har betydet, at Motorstyrelsen har skærpet kravene til sidemonterede nummerplader.

Praksis er nu, at det kun er tilladt at montere en nummerplade på siden af en motorcykel, hvis Motorstyrelsen konkret har givet dispensation hertil. Det har dog affødt flere spørgsmål til styrelserne. Nu giver Motorstyrelsen i samarbejde med Færdselsstyrelsen en række eksempler på, hvordan nummerpladerne korrekt places ud fra det gældende regelsæt.

I eksemplerne ovenfor vises det med farverne grøn og rød, hvad der er henholdsvis lovligt og ulovligt i forhold til placeringen af nummerpladen.

Er nummerpladens placering angivet med en grøn streg, er placeringen lovlig og kræver ikke dispensation.

Er placeringen af nummerpladen angivet med en rød streg, er placeringen ikke lovlig og vil kræve en dispensation, medmindre motorcyklen er synet med en sidemonteret nummerplade i perioden fra den 31. januar 2017 til og med den 1. maj 2020 (se afsnit 4 i nyhedsbrevet fra 22. april 2020). For disse motorcykler er placeringen lovlig indtil næste ordinære syn.

Det er under alle omstændigheder en betingelse, at nummerpladen er synlig i en vinkel på 30 grader til hver side, 15 grader opad og 0 grader nedad.

Visse undtagelser

Der kan være særlige tilfælde, hvor der kan gives dispensation fra forbuddet mod en sidemonteret nummerplade ved det, styrelsen kalder særlige grunde. Eksempelvis kan en motorcykel fra fabrikken er konstrueret og produceret således, at nummerpladen ikke kan monteres bag på motorcyklen.

I praksis kan det via motorcyklens EU-typegodkendelse påvises, om den er EU-typegodkendt med en nummerpladeholder placeret på siden af motorcyklen.

Tjek indregistreringen

Motorcykler med sidemonteret nummerplade, der er nyindregistreret i perioden fra den 31. januar 2017 til og med den 1. maj 2020, kan ifølge Motorstyrelsen fortsat anvendes og forblive indregistreret indtil næste syn. Hvis man ønsker at beholde sin nummerplade sidemonteret, så skal der søges om dispensation for dette.
